经过我一个星期的实验,发现现在住的地方太远了,去学校不方便而且女主人对我和另外的一个高中学生不太满意,嫌我们太乱太脏,没有把浴室,厨房给弄好,我想我得搬了. 清闲的日子没多久就有麻烦了,哈,生活就是这样的吧

haven't updated my blog for a long time, lots of stuff going on, good and bad, good most of the time though, so i think i should just pick the most recent one to share with my freind.

 

I had a housing problem the first day I landed here, because my landlord rented the room  to some one else and I know it the day I depart. Imagine how discouraged I am!! And guess what, when I went to pick my band card, I solved my housing problem. I was complaining to the manager that it is very difficult to find a room here in edmonton this time of year cause the new students are coming and the price goes up. She ,being nice and helpful, called her friend for me , asking her if she could help me out. She had a room and I went to see the house, a town house in a new area, with lake and lots trees around. I like it a lot, so I decided to move in. the rent is 420 per month for everything without food, but actually they offer me food and take me out for supper. Plus they let me use their cooking utensils and drive me shopping. They offer way more than I paid and I am so embarrassed and thankful to them. You never know how things work out and the plan of the BIG BOSS ,so just be hopeful and thankful, praying a lot.

 

School starts next week and I have met the staff in my department: they are nice people. One thing I found different about the universities between Canada and china by far is that the university here is student oriented. There are lots organizations speaking for students, for example, if you break your elbow and you can not write in the exam, you can communicate through the student union and ask for help, either take the exam in a another time or extend the duration of exam. Helpful right? There are other stuff that address to the students which will their life easier and smoother in Canada. Being a grad student, you have lots right as well as responsibilities. That is the thing I am trying to sort out these days: the Alberta health and dental plan and the GSA plan pretty much will cover all your cost from seeing a doctor to surgical operation. And there are other stuff that is available, only you have to find out yourself. Moreover, there are all the deadlines of doing things, you do not want to miss that. Endless trouble if you miss them, the last day to register class, the last day to pay your tuition, the expiration day of your visa, etc.

 

Time of adjustment right now; I am doing fine. Actually I did not feel that much of change or trouble; on the contrary, I feel it is more organized and mature. china now is experiencing a huge breakthrough if I may say, tons of opportunities, new things, but the bad thing is that because of the speed is too fast, they are not mature: cheatings, not enough regulations. Whereas here in Canada, they have gone past that period and people here are kind of relaxed and enjoying good welfare and benefit. My landlord, they told me that they feel comfortable living here, better than in Malaysia.

 

New things and new perspective, hopefully I will catch that
